We all know how convenient it is to shop online. Search, compare, buy and have it delivered to your door: easy. But we all also know what the flip side is—that you don’t get personal treatment and it’s bloody awkward if you need to return anything.

Menus love titles

In the last few sites I’ve made I’ve become more aware of the relationship between menus and page titles (what would usually be the h1 tag). I’m not sure that I’ve got a lot to say about this, except that it’s nice, useful, and easy for users if the structure of the menu and the page title reinforce each other.

Under the line: practical accessibility

Recently at work, accessibility has been getting more attention. How accessible are the products we make and how can their accessibility be improved? What does accessibility mean to our clients, how relevant is it to their project and how can they be convinced of it’s importance? Important questions, but as the person on the sharp end of delivering accessible websites what I need to answer is; realistically what we can we do to make the sites we build as accessible as possible within existing budgets and timescales?
